Independent Chair, Clinical Governance Group
Independent Chair, Clinical Governance Group

Practice Plus | Part-time governance role | Nationwide, meetings held by video
Practice Plus is a national virtual GP service owned by its PHO partners, delivering extended-hours care, locum and inbox support, and after-hours cover that keeps patients connected to their own general practice. We have delivered more than 110,000 consultations, and an independent evaluation found the service returned a net health system benefit of $5.7 million in the last financial year.
Our Board has established a Clinical Governance Group to provide independent oversight of clinical quality and safety as the service grows, and we are seeking its inaugural chair.
The role
- Chair quarterly meetings of the Clinical Governance Group, held by video, with ad hoc meetings convened for serious clinical events.
- Provide a written summary to the Practice Plus Board after each meeting, and lead the annual clinical governance report.
- Shape the Group’s early work: ratifying its Terms of Reference, establishing the clinical quality dashboard, and co-opting rotating clinical contributors according to the agenda.
- Bring an independent clinical voice to a service working across general practice, urgent care, and aged residential care.
Who we are looking for
- A senior clinician with credibility across primary care, and experience in clinical governance or quality oversight.
- Independent of Practice Plus and of our partner PHOs, so the Group’s oversight is visibly its own.
- Comfortable with virtual models of care and curious about where they serve patients well, and where they must not be used.
The role is remunerated through sitting fees of $800 per scheduled meeting, inclusive of preparation and reporting, aligned with the Cabinet Fees Framework ranges for committee chairs, with an expected commitment of four scheduled meetings a year plus the annual clinical governance report.
